Let us see whether Elijah will come to free him.” 50 Then Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, gave up his life. 51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two parts, from top to bottom. And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split apart. 52 And the tombs were opened. And many bodies of the saints, which had been sleeping, arose. 53 And going out from the tombs, after his resurrection, they went into the holy city, and they appeared to many. 54 Now the centurion and those who were with him, guarding Jesus, having seen 582 the earthquake and the things that were done, were very fearful, saying: “Truly, this was the Son of God.” |
